Ms. Joyce Lim

Joyce is currently a 3rd year PhD student at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. Her areas of expertise include second language acquisition, corpus linguistics, second language writing development, and applied linguistics. She grew up in the United States and attended UC San Diego where she studied English Literature. In order to reconnect with her roots and to pick up the Korean language, she moved to Korea after college and taught English to students of all ages. She worked as an English instructor at a kindergarten where she taught reading and writing to children ages 4-6. She also taught business English as well as various standardized tests such as the SATs, ACT, TOEFL, and IELTS to name a few. However, much of Joyce’s English teaching career has involved tutoring students between the ages 10 and 16 in areas such as speaking, listening, reading and writing. She has also tutored students attending international schools on a wide range of subjects such as English, history, and science. Joyce has attained her TESOL certificate in 2012 at UC San Diego and studied English Education in South Korea where she received her certification for teaching.
