School-based training at ZengCheng Qinghua

KnewSTEP’s deputy director Dr. Winnie Pui and the honorary advisor team from the UK held an educational visit and a series of workshops at ZengCheng Qinghua Kindergarten in early March. The school-based training and curriculum reform project will last for a year and a half.
The first phase of the school-based training project includes a school leadership exchange workshop organised by KnewSTEP’s advisor team, as well as a large-scale classroom observation followed with a detailed feedback report for teaching activities of all age groups. The team has also provided and educational development and curriculum planning for Qinghua Kindergarten during the visit, this included the ZengCheng play-based learning street and outdoor sports activities. The unique collection of our advisory team includes professors and associate professors from the University of Hong Kong and University of Cambridge etc.
During the visit, Dr. Winnie Pui also shared at her keynote speech about cultivating children to love their home culture and learning, as well as introduced the international curriculum Early-years Whole-person Global-mindset Curriculum Framework (EWGC) developed by Dr Pui and her research team graduated from the University of Cambridge. The framework was based on China’s educational guide for 3 – 6 years old and UK’s EYFS, with a focus on cultivating the children to respect their home culture and develop to be global citizens. Dr. Pui also mentioned the important influence of community cooperation and family education in children development. KnewSTEP hopes to work together with Qinghua to deepen the curriculum reform, strengthen the development of teacher training, as well as to nurture children to develop as a whole person with global mindset.
