22nd September 2018

***Thank you for being part of Open Chinese Festival 2018!***

KnewSTEP Education would like to once again express our gratitude to each of you who made the first year of Open Chinese Festival 2018 happened. The event received a total of more than 100 participants and allowed many foreign speakers to learn about Chinese culture while at the same time reminded Chinese community of their home heritage.

On the day of event attendees had a taste of celebrating Mid-autumn Festival in many traditional ways such as mooncake and tea tasting (sponsored by Hi-Sweety), Chinese costumes photobooth, poetry reading and choir performance (supported by CCCC), calligraphy (by Mr. Tang and Ms. Jiang) and paper-cutting (by Ms. Zhang), while at the same time celebrated Chinese culture with modern methods such as modern art exhibition (Fusion of Chinese and British scenery by Mr. Gan), 3D-printed lampshades exhibition (supported by NPZ Technology Ltd.), online self-learn Chinese (by Ms. Leung) and 3D-pen lantern making workshop (supported by Mrs Taylor-Harris from BBarbarartist).

A total of 15 participants joined the fun fact & treasure hunt quiz and claimed their prizes of 3D-printed robots. The host also awarded the moon lamp prizes to three lucky draw winners and the 1st winner of ‘My Favourite Chinese Word’ Competition Mrs. S Talukder.

And let us not forget to give thanks to our honorable guests, dearest KnewSTEP team, including all staff, volunteers and workshop instructors! We were very honoured to have you. Let us go hand in hand together to bring more prosperity to the future connection between China and UK, and KnewSTEP will always be dedicated to serve as a mutual platform to promote more bicultural understanding between the two great nations.

Congratulations and well done on the success of your first year of the Open Chinese Festival. Just a message to say how much my family and I enjoyed the event, you had a great variety of activities that engaged all ages, though i wished there were more spaces on the 3D printed lantern making workshop as it looked like so much fun! My daughter absolutely loves the moon lamp I won in the competition and is currently using it as her nightlight. Looking forward to future events!by Mrs S. Talukder, 1st winner of ‘My Favourite Chinese Word’ Competition
