Celebrating Christmas by exchanging DIY Christmas Cards

24th December 2019

KnewSTEP Education has partnered with Zengcheng Qinghua Kindergarten in China to celebrate Christmas by sending DIY Christmas cards to the UK!

As Christmas approaches, KnewSTEP just wants to add a bit of magic to the children’s kindergarten life. We have invited the children from Qinghua Kindergarten in China to exchange their DIY Christmas cards with the children from Evolution Childcare Shadsworth Business Park Nursery in the UK. This event is hoped to promote the development of children’s cultural diversity and sense of global community as in accordance with the EWGC framework. The event involved more than 500 children from China and UK.

The Christmas cards were designed and made by the joint efforts of children and their parents, with the aim to promoting the unique cultural characteristics of Chinese heritage and at the same time allowing the children to experience the important Western tradition of children exchanging cards in Christmas. Through the activity, children can also learn about the history of stamps and the use of stamps in daily life. When the children posted the cards themselves, it also deepened their tie with their friendship aboard, as well as increased their global knowledge of Western Christmas tradition and culture.

Teachers and children in the UK have well received the beautiful Christmas cards and expressed their happiness and gratitude. KnewSTEP Education hopes to spread the love and happiness in this joyful season by sharing these beautiful and colourful work made by parents and children. We hope that children may learn to express their love to other people during special days, and parents may have another good opportunity to spend some wonderful family time with their children.

Thank you for all parties to bring together the great success of this event. It not only represented the strong sense of harmonious community of Qinghua Kindergarten but also reintroduced the importance of whole person development and shaping children’s global mindset in the world as addressed in the EWGC international framework. Let us continue to foster the cultural integration between China and the West through the mutual exchange and development of early years education.
