1st International “Play on Early Education” conference in Athens

16th April 2019

//KnewSTEP’s deputy director Dr. Winnie Pui presented at the 1st International “Play on Early Education” conference in Athens between 11-13 of April, 2019//

The 3-day unique educational conference aims to widely present how Play, that is not controlled by the adults, can be the one and only Early Education element allowing children to discover the real world, at their own unique pace, through Respect, Freedom and Trust.

Many world-class contemporary influencers on play and education acted as keynote speakers at the Play and Education conference such as Tom Hobson (the famous “Teacher Tom” from Seattle US) and Meynell Walter (UK Chair of the Executive Committee of the International Play Association).

Dr Winnie Pui also presented at the conference on the very first day through her good stories on play and education in early year settings, which include for example and the case of “Zeng Cheng Street” Play-based Learning Project in a Chinese kindergarten. The play-based learning project is part of the implementation of an early years education curriculum reform jointly carried by KnewSTEP Education Group and QingHua Kindergarten, in which EWGC Framework – a research led by Dr Winnie Pui and her team from University of Cambridge – was introduced and integrated in the early years setting (Pui, Leung & Zhang 2019).

Sharing similar ethos with the 2019 “Play on Early Education” conference, KnewSTEP also believe that children discover the world through play and thus become enthusiastic and confident global citizens.
